What is daytime overflow coverage?
The short answer
Your day group keeps its list and its relationships. When the list grows faster than they can read, overflow studies route to TeleRads and come back as signed finals in your format. It works for planned gaps such as vacations and for unplanned ones such as a sick day or a surge.
- Same dayoverflow read while your group reads
- Your formatsigned finals in your templates
- 30 daystypical time to go live
When hospitals use it
- Backlogs that carry over from one day to the next
- Vacations, CME and leave that leave the group short
- Recruiting gaps while you hire a radiologist
- Volume spikes from a busy ED, a new service line or seasonal surges
- Outpatient work that waits behind inpatient and ED studies
- Subspecialty-heavy days when your group needs another reader
How it works with your group
- 01
Agree the rules
Your group decides which studies overflow: by modality, by age on the list, by location or by day.
- 02
Route the overflow
Orders arrive by HL7 and images by secure routing to our PACS. There is nothing to install.
- 03
Read and sign
A TeleRads radiologist licensed in your state reads and signs the final in your format.
- 04
Call criticals
Critical results are called within 15 minutes, read back and logged with name, role and time.
- 05
Report monthly
Turnaround, critical calls and peer review appear on your monthly scorecard.
Overflow vs a full-time locum
Hiring a locum radiologist
- Weeks of recruiting before anyone reads
- On-site travel and lodging
- One person, one schedule
Daytime overflow with TeleRads
- Radiologists credentialed at your hospital, then reading remotely
- Nothing to install and no travel
- Capacity that grows or shrinks with your list
Getting started
Credentialing runs through an NCQA-certified CVO built to Joint Commission standards, and your medical staff office reviews and approves every radiologist. We sign a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with every hospital. Most hospitals are live in 30 days. Daytime overflow can sit on the same agreement as overnight, evening or weekend coverage, with one monthly bill, per study or per wRVU.
Questions
What is daytime overflow teleradiology?
Extra reading capacity during the day. Studies your group can’t get to are read remotely by TeleRads radiologists licensed in your state and credentialed at your hospital, and come back as signed finals in your format.
Does overflow coverage replace our radiology group?
No. Your group keeps its list, its schedule and its relationships with your medical staff. Overflow only takes the studies your group routes to us.
Can we use it only for vacations or busy weeks?
Yes. Overflow can be planned around vacations and leave, or used when the list grows. The routing rules are yours.
How fast can daytime overflow start?
Most hospitals are live in 30 days, with credentialing and the HL7 and image connection running in parallel.
How is daytime overflow priced?
One monthly bill, per study or per wRVU, whichever fits your mix. There are no STAT, after-hours or weekend surcharges.
